It was so much fun talking about Mother’s Day with CBS 8 and the beautiful Jenny Milkowski.

We talked about one of my favorite Mother’s Day memories and why this is such an important day for me as a mom of 2 kiddos. The common denominator was that the more “thought and effort” you put into your gifts, the more memorable and special they will be. We also went over a few of my favorite Mother’s Day gift recommendations.

For the Fashionista: I recommend getting a few hours of a personal fashion stylist. Some of us have gained a little weight or changed sizes due to some extra muscle. I met celebrity stylist Rod Alan, author of What in the World am I going to Wear, at a special event and he explained how much easier it is to set up your wardrobe with a stylist. Rod has clients in San Diego and across the country. Another stylist that I have not had the pleasure to work with but have heard wonderful things about is local stylist Vanessa Valiente. Mom feels like a rock star because many times they will bring clothes to her. It costs $250-$500 to get started with a stylist.

For the Environmentalist or Vegan: We love the Rothy Saddle bag. Many of us went to a smaller bag after Covid-19. I’ve seen a lot of fanny packs and cross-body bags and this beautiful little bag I think is more of a stylish alternative. It is a high-end bag that is still on the affordable side. You can be good to mom and also the planet! Their hight end handbags are made from ocean-bound marine plastic. A cool plus for any mom – this bag is machine washable! This bag costs $175.

For the baker and chef, we selected the KoMo Flour Mill. We’ve tested several flour mills and this is one of our favorites! it is handmade in Germany and looks like a work of art. It is easy to use and requires very little cleaning. There is nothing like making bread with freshly milled flour. The grains are very affordable and we have them sent directly from the farm (zero shipping charge). The whole process takes baking to a whole new and more tasty and nutritious level. There are KoMo Mills for every budget but this one is priced at $700.

For the art lover, find out your mom’s favorite artist on social media and get a gift card or a print by direct messaging them or contacting them through their website. One of my favorite artists is Ali Sabet. My hubby and kids have ordered prints and jewelry from his collection and friends have had his designs hand-painted on handbags, luggage, vases, and even a motorcycle! Get creative and I guarantee your unique gift will make mom incredibly happy!

For the make-up enthusiast, I recommend introducing her to a clean beauty line like BeautyCounter. Many of their products are EWG-approved. It wasn’t until I was pregnant that I realized how important it was to know exactly what I was putting on my skin. I started learning about high-end lines that are particular and transparent about what they use in their products. BeautyCounter is one of my favorites and I like it even more than many of the department store brands I used to use. Their website is very easy to use and created to help you pick all the right colors. Link:

For the tech buff, I love how these Bowers and Wilkins wireless earphones look as beautiful as jewelry. These are not your normal earphones! They can also plug into in-flight entertainment systems and retransmit sound directly to your ears. The challenge is finding them in stock somewhere. On these, I think the wait will be worth it. For the mom in need of some serious rest and pampering, schedule 5 days of no cooking. Find healthy places she loves and order dinners in advance for delivery or pick-up. For breakfast, we love the croissants at Split Bakehouse. For lunch, we love Plant Pantry soups. I know the founder of Plant Pantry and how selective she is in what she puts in her vegan soups. This is an incredibly fast and healthy way to make amazing soup your family will love! We have it a couple of times a week and my kids even snack on the dry version when we go for hikes. For dinner, we love Donna Jean. For dessert, we LOVE Maya’s Cookies’ award-winning Chocolate Chip S’mores! Link:

For the Fitness Enthusiast, we recommend the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbells. I missed going to the gym after Covid-19 started and then it was hard to find free weights anywhere. Depending on when you order, there may be a waiting list but it’s well worth it. This is a quality product and is like having an entire free weights section in a small section of your home.
