I started making bread at home a few years ago and couldn’t believe how easy it was. Soon, we were also making our own pizza dough. This year we made a purchase that took our baking to a whole new level! The KoMo Fidibus XL grain grinder.
When my mom suggested I grind my own grain, I thought that sounded a little crazy. I’m already super busy and we are making everything we can from scratch but to bring your own flour sounded like a bit much. With the right grinder and knowing where to get the grain shipped to you for free, it is actually super easy and your baked items will taste incredible and at the same time become more nutritious.
You can find grinders for less but if you can afford it, I would recommend a KoMo grinder. It’s made to last for years and comes with a 12-year warranty. It ooks like a work of art on your kitchen counter and it performs like a dream. In minutes, it uses corundum ceramic burrs to grind your grain into a fine flour. The KoMo grinder includes components from Europe and grinders are handmade made. They produce everything in a workshop for the disabled in Austria. They also use sustainable-certified wood and support sustainable forestry.
Their specially developed electric motors are powerful, reliable and efficient. The 600-watt motor produces 12 ounces of flour per minute. They work with all dry grains including soft or hard wheat, dehulled oats, rice, kamut, spelt, buckwheat, barley, rye, millet, quinoa, amaranth and dent field corn. It also grinds lentil and dry beans. It does not grind oil seeds like flax, sesame or popcorn. Cleanup is minimal and takes minutes. they even have an interchangeable insert system in case you grind for someone with a food allergy. More info coming soon on where we get our grain from.
We purchased ours from Pleasant Hill Grain for $699. For more information, visit KoMo’s website. We will also be demonstrating this item on CoolVeganCafe.com. This item made this year’s Mother’s Day Gift Ideas segment on CBS San Diego.
