It seems women are always on the quest for the best mascara… And cosmetic companies are always coming out with new ways to get ahead of the pack! I never got into the false lashes and am fortunate to have decent lashes but I still love a great mascara! Since the pregnancy, I became more aware of the ingredients in cosmetics and try to opt for greener versions of anything I can. The eye is such a sensitive area. The problem is that the greener formulas don’t always perform well…especially when you are used to some of the higher end brands. I like the mascara to make my lashes full and long without making them clumpy. I want them to look super black and feel moist and not start to crack and stain my under eye area mid day. And I don’t want to have to get some harsh chemical to remove it completely. Some may say it is a lot to ask from one tube but today, they seem to be able to do amazing things!
I discovered Tarte’s Light, Camera, Lashes! mascara not too long ago at Sephora. It is part of their “natural” green category. I was skeptical. I’ve tried natural formulas and have not been impressed. The reviews on the Sephora site were positive so I gave it a try. It did not disappoint. I can honestly say that it is the best I’ve found so far in the “natural” brands. They lengthen and you can easily layer more or less depending on your occasion. They keep moist throughout the day and have amazing holding power. When it is time to take it off, they come off easily with a little eye make-up remover and very little effort.
I love that this mascara is formulated without parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, petro-chemicals, and phthalates. What it does have – ingredients like rice bran wax to help lengthen, ProVitamin B5 to treat and thicken lashes, olive esters condition, treat and protect and mineral pigments soothe and soften. I have to admit, I feel my lashes seem healthier and even look better when I don’t have anything on them. For now, this one is a keeper!
