We purchase organic produce whenever possible. We love farmer’s markets and purchasing the freshest products from local farmers in our area. What we can’t get at the farmer’s market, we get at Jimbos and Whole Foods. We make our special green juice every morning and have carrot or beet juice at night so we buy a LOT of vegetables.
As I’m sure you know, organic produce is super expensive and many times it goes bad just a day after you purchase it. I recently found the OXO Good Grips GreenSaver Produce Keepers. We are using them for all of our produce and have been pleased with the results. It has an elevated colander that lifts produce up and away from the container walls to promote airflow from all sides and prevent rotting. The carbon filter (lasts 90 days) traps and absorbs ethylene gas – reducing spoilage. There is even an adjustable vent on top to create the perfect humidity for the produce inside. I love the large square and rectangle.
We have our groceries delivered and they also wash and prep everything into these containers right away. This will save you so much time and money. Everything is ready to eat or cook with and your kiddos end up eating more fruits and vegetables. Prepping is a tip I got from Rachael Ray a while back and it has saved me.
They are sold out at the OXO website so you can find them on Amazon. They range from $15 to $25 and the filter refills are $10 for a 4 pack.
