I’ve always envied people with photographic memory. I happened to know a few of them in college and they seemed to have a much easier time than I did. Life would have been a bit more fair if I had an amazing invention called the Livescribe Echo smartpen. This pen let’s you take notes and record audio all from your pen but that’s just the beginning.
Touch a certain place in your notes with the tip of the pen and hear what was being said when you took the notes. With the desktop software (we recommend the premium upgrade), you have access to your document on your computer as soon as you plug-in your pen. Your notes can also be emailed, sent to Google docs, Evernote, and your mobile device. Cool applications for the pen include a dictionary and a translator.
The pen feels good in the hand and looks very modern. You will need to take time to load the software and learn how to use the pen. Even if you are tech savy, it will take some time to learn how everything works. The video tutorials on the site help a lot. If you take a lot of notes, the time invested will be well worth it. You will need to have the special Livescribe notebooks or can print your own Dot paper from their website. The notebooks cost $8 and the ink cartridges are a little over $1 each. The Livescribe store also has a lot of cool accessories. Their Echo Smartpen starts at $100. A small price for an incredible invention that is the closest thing we have to a time machine today!
